The Real Easter

I have never felt like my celebration of Easter was enough, or even relevant, even though my dad boycotted all Pagan throwbacks like Easter baskets and bunnies. Somehow my mom prevailed and we went to the big hunt at the park. (Thank you Mom. I have wonderful memories.) But Mormons don't celebrate Holy Week in general. We have lovely music on Sunday, but we don't stop and think of the events of the last week of the Savior's life. Why do you think that is? Are we Catho-phobic? We do, however, celebrate the death and Atonement of Christ every week in Sacrament meeting. But why not lay a few palms, have a Seder, remember Good Friday? Devin and I have decided to do a little more. The point of Holy Week and Easter is that we remember Christ, so we came up with a few traditions, with the help of an article in the April Ensign to help us do that. We'll see how it goes.

You and your cool traditions...I love it! You inspire me to do more of that kind of stuff. I don't like any Holiday in general because they are so COMMERCIAL these days. I am an official GRINCH...I know it...bad me:( One tradition I want to start this year is making "Hollow rolls" . Have you ever done it? Bread dough...roll a marshmallow in cinnamon and sugar and butter...wrap around the roll...bakes and they come out hollow like the tomb...the sweet inside even represents the goodness of the atonement!! I love the idea and can't wait to make them. I think I will use cinnamon roll dough for mine. Happy Easter!
