Indoor Advice

Here are more pictures of our lovely pink-orange living room. We have been thinking of closing off that loft "window" to have a third bedroom, but were worried that it would make the room dark without the light from upstairs. We also need to paint. The color has to be neutral and match the greenish tan of our kitchen. Any advice?

Are there windows in the loft area? I vote for a natural stone color... like a brownish something or other... ha... isn't that so clear... I'm sure you can imagine the exact color I have in my head :o)

There is a window in the "loft," or what the realtor called the "third bedroom" (it doesn't have a door). Stone, hmm. Sound good.

I'm really into grey right now. (And yes, I prefer to spell it grey, I like that better than gray.)

But I think grey is very soothing and pretty, so I like that.

But you could also go greige (grey and beige), which is also very pretty and easy to work with.

a light sage green would look good too. Love the pictures. and thanks for keeping me updated. I am going to have to give in to the blog craze one day.

Taupe(not pink taupe but a brown taupe)or any tans/brown tones is the way to go which is similar to stone. Don't worry about a color being too dark, that is false that is darkens a room it actually helps to "pop" everything in the room and makes accentuates the windows and the light coming in them. I would go for closing off the loft...a little less light is not going to hurt too much..put those natural light light bulbs in all your lamps and sockets , that will help and they come in flourescent that will last for 8 years! Robert put 2 in our downstairs bathroom and it makes a huge difference...I want to get them for all of my house now...expensive at first but if you think about buying bulbs all of the time I think it even out. Go Lindsay! Be bold with paint! Get a small can and paint a wall and see if you like it first!

Yellows are good too for wall color but get a muted one if you like yellow anyway...would brighten up any room but I am not talking lemon yellow here YUCK!

I agree with Julie and Danelle although I have a harder time picturing paint color unless it's already on the wall. That is why we still after 4 years haven't painted our family room. It's so banged up. And just so you know, I am back in the world of blogging and I love your blogs. Keep them coming! I would also love an email. I miss you guys! What does Devin think about Acura? The car?
